ANTENATAL SERVICES :

Local and National media reports have recently high-lighted the degree to which many antenatal services offered by local GP's and Hospitals are under increasing pressure. High workloads, inadequate staffing levels and financial restrictions have resulted in over-burdened NHS antenatal services.

At Apeekaboo Imaging I work with a registered Midwife who also works within both the NHS and private sectors.

We both believe that we can offer an alternative environment to the often busy and crowded GP and Hospital antenatal clinics. At Apeekaboo we provide a modern comfortable clinic setting for community-based Consultant or Midwife antenatal check-ups.

Our aim is to provide you with a comfortable, relaxed and unhurried opportunity to assess and discuss all aspects your pregnancy.

Each Antenatal consultation will last between 20-30 min.s and include:

- Blood pressure and Urine check

- Clinical assesment of the pregnancy

- A quick-look ultrasound scan to confirm the presentation of the baby (eg. Cephalic/Breech),Fetal heart beat, Placental site, Liquor volume assessment

- Opportunity to discuss any issues or concerns you have regarding your pregnancy

- Routine or additional blood tests can also be taken if required (we will contact you with the results within 24-48 hours for most routine tests)

If you would like to arrange an appointment please contact Karen our Clerical Manager on : 0208-320-1222

If problems are detected during the consultation we will discuss these with you and advise you on the next most appropriate course of action. This may require additional blood tests scans or direct referral to your Hospital for further management.

In the near future we are also hoping to provide Private Antenatal Classes with opportunities for you to hear from and speak to Midwives, Obstetric & Anaesthetic Consultants on topics ranging from:

- What to expect during your pregnancy

- How to prepare for labour/ What to consider for your birth plan

- Options for pain relief during labour

- What to expect if assistance is required for delivery of your baby eg. Ventouse, Caesarean Section

- Normal postnatal recovery

- Advice for breast and bottle-feeding
