SCHEDULE FOR DIFFERENT TYPES OF PREGNANCY SCANS*:

EARLY PREGNANCY/ VIABILITY & DATING Scans (5-10 wks) Scan to confirm pregnancy viability, to date the pregnancy & identify Twin or Triplet pregnancies
1st Trimester NUCHAL TRANSLUCENCY (NT) Scans) (11-13+6 wks) Screening scan to provide a risk score for major chromosomal abnormalities (eg.Down's syndrome) & to check the early structure of the baby
ANOMALY Scans
(20-23 wks)
Main scan to check the baby's structure for abnormalities

CERVICAL LENGTH Scans (12-23 wks)

Scan to screen for the risk of late miscarriage or early preterm labour by measuring the length of the Cervix
FETAL GROWTH Scans
(24-41wks)
Scans to measure the size of the baby and check the blood flow through the placenta (doppler flow) to check whether your baby is growing properly within the womb.
GENDER Scans (16-34 wks) Fetal scan to identify the sex of your baby
3D/4D Scans (24-34 wks) Amazing baby bonding scans to meet your baby in moving 3D (4D)
* Within the NHS Maternity system you will routinely only be offered the 1st Trimester NT scan and an Anomaly Scan.
In the absence of any other risk factors most private Obstetric patients will additionally all undergo at least additional fetal growth scans at 28 & 34 wks.
